Water Temperature: 44 to 48 the main lake, creeks running cooler or warmer, depending on the time of day and amount of sun.
Water Clarity: Clear in the main lake down south, getting more stained as you travel up the lake. The backs of some creeks are stained to muddy. Lots of rain and current has the lake more stained this year than normal.

Current Patterns: Cold, cold , and more cold this winter has made for a slow bite. Despite the cooler than normal temps, prespawn bass are showing up in their normal areas and big fish are being caught, just not good numbers most days. The pattern will pretty much remain the same until we get an extended warming period and the fish start spawning, normally in mid-March. The bass are staging on points and creek channels that sit between spawning areas and deep water. Fishing lipless cranks and jigs have been working best as of late due to cold temps, but they should start chasing a wide variety of lures once it warms up more. Areas with submerged vegetation (primarily hydrilla and milfoil) for cover will typically have the most active fish. Main lake grass beds near the mouths of these coves are holding fish now, as are main and secondary points inside the coves—provided there is deep water nearby. During warming trends, follow bass back into the creeks and check the edges of grass flats and creek channels.
